Festival Survival Guides

From festival must-packs to ways to beat the post Port Eliot blues, we asked six of our friends to tell us what they're most looking forward to over the magical weekender...

First Year at Port Eliot Festival?
Yes!

Camping or glamping?
Glamping all the way.

Festival must-pack?
Baby wipes!

Most looking forward to seeing…
Can’t wait to explore the wellbeing part, time to re-charge with maybe a little hot tub session, massage or yoga class – all right up my street!

Most looking forward to listening to…
I’m excited that Yazmin Lacey is there, but there’s so many unique artists that I have never heard of before so I can’t wait to explore and discover new music!

Most looking forward to eating…
Get me to that cheese truck! Followed by FaeryFloss Boutique for some (as described) ‘candy floss bigger than your head’.

Festival tipple?
GIN GIN and more GIN… so that’s to the Sipsmith Gin shop then!

Festival motto…
All life is an experiment

Cure for post Port Eliot Festival blues…
Replaying my favourite tunes from the weekend!

First year at Port Eliot Festival?
Second year actually! And looking forward to wild swimming, star gazing and kids' activities with my son Gus!

Camping or glamping?
Always extremely happy in a tent I can stand up in and with some comfy mattresses on hand! Love the Yurtel tents for the perfect glamping experience.

Festival must-pack?
My camera of course! But layers for warmth and wellies for rain...

Most looking forward to seeing...
Well Gus and I are a little over excited at the prospect of seeing Andy from Andy's Dinosaur Adventures do a music show!

Most looking forward to listening to...
Writer and journalist Clover Stroud who is one of the coolest ladies I know!

Most looking forward to eating...
Buttered crumpets from a tea van were our favourite last year!

Festival tipple?
As long as I can get a fresh mint tea at the end of the night I'm happy!

Festival motto...
I love this line, "Some dance to remember, some dance to forget" from The Eagles.

Cure for post Port Eliot Festival blues...
Trawling through and editing photos is a wonderful way to relive the moments!

First year at Port Eliot Festival?
Yes! Total newbies!

Camping or glamping?
We'll be lucky if we can get a tent up, so very very basic camping... probably sleeping under the stars in fact.

Festival must-pack?
Baby Wipes, for everything!

Most looking forward to seeing…
All the workshops, we'll be making a beeline for the sourdough baking and all the crafting!

Most looking forward to listening to…
Holly McNish. We're huge fans, we'll probably just end up following her around!

Most looking forward to eating…
EVERYTHING from the cheese truck.

Festival tipple?
Lovely big pints of cold cider...

Festival motto…
Leave your inhibitions at the gates.

Cure for post Port Eliot Festival blues…
Kombucha and cuddles.

First year at Port Eliot Festival?
Second year!

Camping or glamping?
Definitely glamping. Maybe if I were younger, maybe if I didn't bring the children, maybe then I'd think about camping.... actually no; who am I kidding? Always glamping!

Festival must-pack?
Well I'm obviously going to say wellies as chances are it will rain at some point (although last year didn't have to wear them at all so here's hoping..) but I'm going with positive sunny vibes only and I'm going to say hat. Instant festival vibe without having to worry about your hair looking good!

Most looking forward to seeing...
Really looking forward to seeing Molly Goddard's collection. Her pieces are gorgeous.

Most looking forward to listening to…
Saint Etienne! Have loved them for years.

Most looking forward to eating…
Oysters! Although the 8-year-old has already asked if the cheese truck will be there again... He is a cheese fiend and had three cheese sandwiches a day last year. They were pure cheese perfection, it does have to be said.

Festival tipple?
Mary's Bloody Ambulance. Simply the best Red Snappers in the world (Bloody Mary's with gin instead of vodka).

Festival motto…
"Make mine a gin..."

Cure for post Port Eliot Festival blues…
Book a holiday! We're going away the week after to our favourite sanctuary, Suffolk, to recharge our batteries as a family. Something to look forward to is the only cure.

First year at Port Eliot Festival?
This is our fourth year doing floral crowns at Port Eliot and its always a highlight in our summer calendar!

Camping or glamping?
Well probably fair to say aspiring glampers! With a bell tent as our home it's tempting to pack everything and the kitchen sink!

Festival must-pack?
Mosquito spray especially for the evenings by the river and it you hate travelling light a wheelbarrow to bring all your things in is a lifesaver!

Most looking forward to seeing…
The Rouge Theatre Company puts on an amazing show every year and kids, young and old love to watch it in the magical Hullabaloo area so we will definitely be watching them again this year.

Most looking forward to listening to…
Looking forward to dancing and listening to Las Cafeteras.

Most looking forward to eating…
We are definitely going to treat ourselves to breakfast at the Violet Bakery created by Claire Ptak in the Orangery - after a day of flower crown making it will be a lovely relaxing start to Saturday morning.

Festival tipple?
G&T's all the way! But we've heard there's going cocktail bar in the wardrobe department so it'd be rude not to check it out!

Festival motto…
Sun cream and sparkles.

Cure for post Port Eliot Festival blues
Plenty of trips to north coast beaches for long lazy days in the sea and watching the sunset with friends around a BBQ. Living in Cornwall is pretty magic!

First year at Port Eliot Festival?
It's my third! Can't wait.

Camping or glamping?
Glamping without a doubt.

Festival must-pack?
A cosy pair of Hush PJs and dry shampoo, naturally.

Most looking forward to seeing…
Giles Deacon's illustration masterclass, Stanley Tucci and lovely Daisy Buchanan.

Most looking forward to listening to…
Hollie McNish!

Most looking forward to eating…
Oysters washed down with delicious rosé.

Festival tipple?
A cold Sipsmith G&T by the river.

Festival motto…
Just enjoy yourself.

Cure for post Port Eliot Festival blues…
Booking next year!

First year at Port Eliot Festival?
Yes! I’ve never been to a festival with such a great combination of different activities like workshops and things to see – plus I love Cornwall so I’m pretty excited!

Camping or glamping?
I love traditional camping and getting into the true festival spirit of things, but as a blogger having half your items covered in mud it’s not always the most practical! So I can’t wait to try out glamping for the first time at this festival.

Festival must-pack?
Portable chargers and dry shampoo!

Most looking forward to seeing…
I adore Stanley Tucci so I’m looking forward to his talk as well as Micheal C Hall’s (biggest Dexter fan in the world over here!). Of course I’m also looking forward to seeing hush’s starry garden exhibition!

Most looking forward to listening to…
Sarah Gillespe and Livewire.

Most looking forward to eating…
I’ve been pescetarian since January so I’m excited to try the vegan and veggie creations from the Bahngra Bus and I’m a sucker for fresh seafood when I’m in Cornwall so I’ll definitely be hitting up Fal’s Oyster pop-up.

Festival tipple?
Captain Coke or Gin and Juice.

Festival motto…
Enjoy every moment.

Posting my favourite shots from the weekend on Instagram whilst listening to the Port Elliot 2017 playlist on Spotify.
