An emotionally charged drama about family and forgiveness, Manchester By The Sea, starring Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams, has already won Affleck his first Golden Globe for Best Actor in a drama motion picture and is hotly tipped to pick up a host of awards in 2017!
The new film from writer-director Kenneth Lonergan, stars Affleck as Lee Chandler, a brooding, irritable loner who works as a handyman for a Boston apartment block. One damp winter day he gets a call summoning him to his hometown, as his brother's heart has given out suddenly, and he's been named guardian to his 16-year-old nephew (the often hilarious, Lucas Hedges).
As if losing his only sibling and doubts about raising a teenager weren't enough, his return to the past re-opens an unspeakable tragedy.
Rocked by contact with his estranged ex-wife (played by Michelle Williams), Lee is forced to face up to painful memories and new-found levels of responsibility as he reconnects with his family.
Make sure to take tissues - despite the black humour, this incredibly powerful and hugely acclaimed drama had the entire audience weeping at one crucial point!
