Pearl Lowe is a woman of many parts.
A former rock chick who found fame with the band Powder in the 1990s, she has reinvented herself several times. She escaped both London and the demons which plagued her – about which she wrote openly in her memoir, All That Glitters, moving to Somerset with her husband, Supergrass drummer Danny Goffey, and their children, Alfie, Frankie and Betty. (Daisy, her eldest, stayed in London to pursue her highly successful modeling career, but they are very close.)
Seeking a creative outlet, Pearl returned to her first love and found success as a designer (lace curtains and handmade dresses), and now sits at the helm of her first luxury childrenswear line, Petite Pearl Lowe, making beautiful, whimsical clothes which are the stuff that children’s dreams are made of...
What inspired Petite Pearl Lowe?
All my children are creatives and love dressing up, especially my youngest daughter Betty, who will often go out in a fancy dress outfit. As the costumes in the shops were so generic, I started collecting vintage 1920s outfits from flea market but Betty refused to wear these as they were too scratchy. So, I started to make some of my own. They’re handmade locally in Somerset - I think it's really important to keep everything in the UK, if possible! The only downside is that it makes the prices higher.
